Local Riders to Participate in RAAM

We have two riders, Phil Fox and Sarah Rice. Phil is competing in Race Across America this year and Sarah is leading his support team for training and the race. Both are friends of the store and Sarah is one of our event ambassadors for Grit and Grace. Our Service team is supporting Sarah and Phil with supplies and tools for him to complete the 3,000k+ mile race. We'd like to provide updates to the training and racing via social media. I'm picturing feed posts and stories with the photos and updates that Sarah is providing.

Phil Fox (39) is an ultracyclist here in Chicago. Starting off as a bike commuter 15 years ago, every year the challenge would get bigger. From one-day charity rides and RAGBRAI to a series of 24-hour races; each year he pushed the boundaries of what he was capable of. Last year Fox successfully set the Guiness World Record riding around Lake Michigan in 64 hours. Now he's set his sights on competing in the Race Across America (Solo Division), considered the toughest and most famous ultracycling event in the world in support of Bike MS. Coming off of the overall win at the Longhorn 500, one of the last RAAM qualifiers before the big race – He's targeting a podium finish in Annapolis, Maryland completing 3000+ miles in 12 days or less. Phil races exclusively on the Specialized Roubaix.

Sarah Rice: I started out riding as a competitive triathlete, then competed in professional criteriums and stage races as well as gravel, mountain, and fatbike events. I mix competition with fun rides like SBT GRVL, RAGBRAI, and TOMRV. I am a member of Spidermonkey Cycling and a practicing physical therapist at Athletico. I like to go long on the bike, and am super excited to see more and more long distance road, gravel, and mountain events. The best part is the increasing numbers of female riders like me who want rides that are challenging, fun, and a little insane.
